A summary table presenting the
new
data, including recently run TCLP's on the old mixing-test batches, is
attached (in both Excel and PDF formats). Each of the 8 samples
represents a
50-foot section or "cell" of the SHT. All TCLPs were below haz-waste
level
of 0.50 mg/L. We also ran Ignitability and Paint Filters on each of
these to
prepare documentation for disposal and all were ND. This indicates all
the
waste can probably be removed for off-site disposal as non-hazardous,
special waste.
Plans for SHT Removal Action Next Week: We will modify our waste
management
plan to remove the SHT solidified slurry waste as non-hazardous waste
by
direct-load methods. We will proceed in the same fashion as we are
doing on
the west side, except we will include TCLP analysis in our cleanup
verification samples. We would like to begin removing the east side
SHT
waste for off-site disposal on Monday (or Tuesday) subject to your
approval
/ concurrence. We already have authorization from BFI/Allied for
landfill
disposal of up to 3,000 CY of non-hazardous special waste from this
site.
West Side Removal Operations Status: Three semi loads (approx 51 CY)
of
non-hazardous contaminated soil were excavated and transported to
BFI/Allied's Tower landfill on Wed 2-7-07. Yesterday, 25 semi loads
(approx
425 CY) were excavated and hauled to Tower LF (476 CY total to-date
from the
west side). The contaminated soil extends further beyond the sidewalls
6/9/2007
