M-2008-080-Journey Ventures, LLC - Joumey Ventures Pit - 112 (c) Application Preliminary Adequacy Review Response <br />March 5, 2009 <br />-2- <br />6.4.3 Exhibit C- Pre-mining and Mining Plan Map(s) of Affected Lands <br />3. The Mining Plan Map does not include the type of present vegetation covering the land Please <br />include this information as required by Rule 6.4.3(e). <br />An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that includes a note <br />explaining the present vegetation covering the land. <br />4. Rule 6.4.30 requires the applicant to identify the owners of any significant, valuable, and <br />permanent man-made structures within two hundred feet of the affected land Please provide the <br />owner's name with any associated structures on the Mining Plan Map. <br />An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that identifies the structure <br />owners. <br />5. The Mining Plan Map does not show where the site access will be located Please include the site <br />access on the Mining Plan Map. <br />An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that identifies the site access. <br />6. The Mining Plan does not show the warm water canal that is located in the southern portion of the <br />permit area. Please include this canal on the Mining Plan Map. <br />An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that identifies the location of <br />the wetland area. It was show previously with hatching and the hatching was included in the <br />legend. We have added labels to show the location for better identification. <br />7. The Mining Plan states that there will be designated areas for concrete truck washout and <br />excess concrete product dumping. Please show the location of these areas on the Mining Plan <br />Map. <br />An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that identifies the location of <br />the concrete truck washout and the excess concrete product dumping location. <br />6.4.4 Exhibit D - Mining Plan <br />8. The mining plan states that a slurry wall will be constructed prior to Phase 3 or between Phases 3 <br />and 11. Please provide a more specific time frame as to when the slurry wall will be constructed <br />The slurry wall will be installed prior to opening Phase 8. <br />9. The Mining Plan states that final slope will be 3H:1 V down to a depth of 10 feet below the normal <br />water level. The applicant must demonstrate that the water level will be maintained at a certain <br />depth or rang of depth. If the applicant is unable to demonstrate that the water level will be <br />constant, then the final slope will need to be 3H:1 V for the entire length of the slope. <br />The mining slope will be at a 3H:1 V for the first 10 to 13 feet of depth and then transition to a <br />2HAV slope to the bottom of the pit.
