formed by the historic occupation of the South Platte River. Today, the river lies about
2,000 feet to the south of the southern permit boundary. The alluvium ranges up to
about 14 feet in depth and lies disconformably over sedimentary units of the Pierre
Formation.
Mining Plan
It is planned that operations will continue in the operations existing area located
on the southeast side of the site and work in a general direction toward the west. A
dozer, loader and/or excavator will be used to mine the aggregate. The operation will
be mined so as to not to permanently expose the water table. According to the current
lessee, ground water lies at a depth ranging from about 10 to 12 feet, depending on
location.
One or more product stockpiles will be located at convenient locations within
the disturbed area and moved as necessary to accommodate the operation as it
progresses. Product stockpiles will then be depleted as necessary.
It is anticipated that the site. will be mined less than one hundred eighty (180)
days per year.
Processing
Processing will occur on site. Following extraction, the aggregate will be
crushed and screened. The product will be used for road base and the manufacture of
other aggregate products, including asphalt (an asphalt plant currently exists) and
possibly redi-mix concrete at a later time.
If a redi-mix concrete plant is located on
site, aggregate washing may also occur.
Processing will occur in the general area illustrated on the Exhibit C map,
except that the crushing equipment may move as necessary to accommodate the
mining operation. The redi-mix concrete plant will likely be located near the asphalt
plant, but its specific setting is uncertain. Wash water for aggregate washing, if done,
-5-
