IV. Exhibit D - Mining Plan
The Bromley Lake Pit site consists of an existing permitted area (with existing
approved Amendments and Acreage/Reductions to date) of approximately 172.5 acres of
active mining site along the South Platte River a little more than a mile southwest of the
intersection of Bromley Lane and U.S. 85 in Brighton, Colorado. The proposed new
expansion of the permit area consists of approximately 77.0 additional contiguous acres
to the east and southeast of the southerly end of the existing permitted area. In addition,
it is proposed that an existing adjacent pit, Ready Mixed Pit No.I comprising 38.3 acres
will be rolled into the Bromley Lakes Pit permit with this Amendment No. 2. Hence, the
proposed new total affected land with this amendment will be approximately 287.8 acres.
The existing permitted area is wholly owned by the City of Brighton. The
expansion area and existing Ready Mixed Pit No. 1 are wholly owned by Ready Mixed.
The expansion area is partially within City of Brighton limits and partially within
unincorporated Adams County. Ready Mixed Pit No. 1 is currently being annexed from
unincorporated Adams County into the City of Brighton. Portions of the expansion area
not currently within the City of Brighton will be annexed soon such that the entire new
permit area will be within city limits.
The current status of the different land components of the new, amended permit
area is as follows:
1. The existing permitted area is almost mined out except for approximately 4.5
acres in the southeast corner of existing Cell No. 3 (Phase 10), which acreage
will be mined in conjunction with the new expansion area discussed below.
2. The existing permit area includes the plant, processing, stockpile and office
areas comprising 17.7 acres. This existing permitted area is already
completely disturbed, but not intended for active mining. This permit
amendment application seeks to add this area to the total area to be mined, but
does not change the total disturbed area for the existing permit area. The plant
is permitted to receive and process material from the contiguous Ready Mixed
Pit No.I (M-1985-017) to the south, and the contiguous Erger's Pond Pit (M-
18
