M-77-342) <br />Dear Mr. Sorenson: <br />Included are the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) Annual 112d-3 <br />Report for Climax Molybdenum Company's Henderson Mine and Mill (Permit No. M- <br />77-342), and a check for the $633.00 annual fee. Below is a summary of interim <br />reclamation activities conducted during 2008. <br />Mine Site <br />There were no new disturbances at the Mine in 2008, nor are any expect in 2009. The <br />following reclamation activities were conducted at the Mine in 2008. <br />Trees impacted by the pine beetles were removal from the mine area and URAD areas. <br />The trees were removed to promote the growth of healthy trees and to lesson the potential <br />impact of forest fires. <br />A forest fire potential study was conducted that encompassed the Henderson Mine site. <br />The study helped define the fire potential and how to plan for fire hazards. <br />A new micro-filtration potable water plant was installed at the Mine. This new water <br />plant will treat the Mine's drinking water more efficiently and will allow removal of the <br />antiquated slow-sand filter treatment systems previously used to treat potable water at the <br />Mine. <br />Stormwater management was improved to minimize erosion and to protect surface and <br />ground water. Concrete barricades were used in conjunction with riprap to control
