2007 Annual Reclamation Report
Dear Mr. Watterson:
The Division has received the BTU Empire Corporation's (BTUEC) submittal of the
2007 Annual Hydrology Report for the Eagle Mine Complex. Thank you for your timely
submittal of this report. The Eagle Mine Complex is in Temporary Cessation. While no
mining occurred at the site during the 2007 reporting year, the operator did perform the
required water monitoring and continued the pumping of water from the mine's
workings. The following is a brief summary of the report.
BTUEC is required to monitor 11 bedrock wells. These wells are the No. 5 Mine Well,
the Okie Plaza Well, TR-4, TR-7A, 81-01, 83-01, 83-02, 83-03, 259, 84-01 and No. 9
Mine Well. The Okie Plaza Well was, however, abandoned in June 1994 and is no
longer reported. All of the wells are monitored quarterly for water level. The No. 5 Mine
Well, TR-4, TR-7A, 81-01, 259 and the No. 9 Mine Well are monitored quarterly for
field parameters (temp, conductivity, pH, TSS, flow and depth) and annually for full
water quality parameters (T-Alk, Ca, Mg, Na, HC03, C03, As, Cd, Pb, Hg, Se, Zn, Fe,
Mn, B, Mo and N03). The wells were monitored in February, April, August and
November, with the full water quality parameters completed in April. All of the required
monitoring was performed in the 2007 reporting year. All of the samples met applicable
water quality standards.
BTUEC is required to monitor three alluvial wells. These wells are AVF-3, AVF-5 and
AVF-6. All three wells are monitored quarterly for water level, field parameters and full
water quality parameters (as listed above for the bedrock wells). The wells were
monitored in February, April, August and November. All of the required monitoring was
performed in the 2007 reporting year. All of the samples met applicable water quality
standards.
