This quantitative vegetation study was conducted
in June 2008 and submitted to CORMS as Minor Revision 6 which was
approved by CORMS on August 11, 2008. At that time, CORMS
completely approved removal of the sedimentation ponds at the mine and
we initiated termination of the COPS permit [process ongoing). Each of the
revisions includes approximately 25-50 pages of technical backup
information which I have not included.
As i indicated yesterday, CDRMS does not require that a bond release
application be in process to remove sedimentation facilities, and we chose
to submit the revisions rather than a bond release request in this instance.
However, given the success of the reclamation and revegetation at the mine
since 2006, Oakridge energy has elected to request final bond release for
qualifying areas of the mine (CDPHE was notified by certified mail in July
2008). CORMS is holding a bond release inspection on Wednesday,
October 29, 2008 at 9:00 AM at the mine, and i would like to invite any
CDPHE personnel to attend as part of the CDPS termination process and
as all knowledgeable parties will be present to answer questions.
Attachments: CDPHE Request for Termination Carbon Junction Mine
Coy-&500-42
CORMS Minor Revision 6 Approval Form
CORMS Technical Revision 15 Approval Form
