Selective herbicides recommended for leafy spurge control in the true-flower stage. This combination is NOT recommended for fall applications
2. Rate recommended is 1 pt of Tordon + 1 qt of 2, 4-D Amine + 4 fluid ounces of Plateau + I qt of Metholated Seed Oil (MSO) per acre.
3, Research at North Dakota University has shown that the addition of Plateau to Tordon plus 2, 4-D will improve leafy spurge control, compared
to Tordon plus 2, 4-D at I pint plus 1 quart applied alone. Leafy spurge control from the three-herbicide mixture averaged 92%, 83%, and 75%
three, 12, and 15 months after treatment, respectively, compared to 75%, 48%, and 0% for Tordon plus 2,4-D.
4. Some short-term grass injury may be observed, especially with species sensitive to Plateau.
5. The MSO is critical for control.
2,4-D
Many Amine and Ester Formulations
1. Selective herbicide - effective on many broadleaf plants, not grasses.
2. Translocating herbicide - primarily foliar applied.
3. Very effective on annual broadleaf seedlings - sunflower, kochia, Russian thistle, prickly lettuce, redroot pigweed, etc.
4. Effective on most biennials when treated in rosette stage - musk thistle, scotch thistle, burdock, etc.
5. Not very effective by itself on established perennial plants. Usually tank mixed with other herbicides, such as; Banvel, Tordon and Roundup.
DICAMBA
Banvel
1. Selective herbicide - effective on many broadleaf plants, not grasses.
2. Translocating herbicide - primarily foliar applied.
3. Very effective on many annual, biennial, and perennial plants.
4. Labeled for use in small grains (wheat, barley, oats) and corn, pasture, rangeland and non-cropland areas, CRP, turf and lawns and grass seeded
crops.
5. Can be tank mixed with many herbicides.
http -.//www. co.larimer.co.us/publicworks/weeds/herbicide. htm 6/20/2005
