DRMS notes that a radiological survey was completed of the proposed permit area. The survey provides good
data for some of the sites that will be mined and under exploration. The Division however is requesting a
focused survey on the area where the office and ore bins will be constructed. This will provide a baseline and
average for the area which can be used as a reclamation bench mark for this area. The grid should be a
maximum 25 foot by 25 foot spacing and cover the entire area where ore will be handled, stored and loaded for
shipping. Once the statistical average is obtained it should be noted in the reclamation plan for the area. The
plan should be changed to reflect what measures may be necessary to obtain the average such as a cap of
materials, removal and disposal or other methods the applicant may feel will be affective.
Section 2: Please provide a map specifically of the ore bin/ office area that is equivalent to Map T-1.
Section 12: Please revise to state that once the five (5) quarters of monitoring have been completed Nuvemco
will consult with DRMS on modifications to the sampling plan which may include a reduction in intervals or
termination of the monitoring.
Section 15: Please clarify that Nuvemco understands that DRMS staff reserves the right to do its own QA/QC.
Nuvemco must notify DRMS staff 5 working days prior to the beginning of construction of the ore bin so a pre-
pour inspection can be scheduled. Regardless of a DRMS inspection a post construction and as-built report
shall be submitted for Division review within 30 days of completion of the project.
Section 18: Please specify which piles and open adits will be closed.
Rule 6.5 Geotechnical Stability:
The exhibit appears to be sufficient. However, it will be reviewed by staff engineer when other details are
presented for review.
Rule 8 Emergency Response Plan:
DBMS should be included in Phase 1, Part b) ii) for contact within 24 hours.
Under Section C, Phase 3, Remediation: a) it should be noted that any remediation plan shall be submitted as a
Technical Revision to the Division for review and approval. It is understood that emergency measures must
always dictate the protection of human life, health and the environment first. Thus once the situation is stable
the regulatory aspects can be addressed.
Additional DRMS Staff review:
1) The rock geochemistry testing that is written into the EPP should include not only the initial, pre-mining
round, but also periodic testing through the life of mine to assess changes in the waste rock and ore
geochemistry with depth.
