Bowie Mine, Terror Creek Reservoir Area PROJECT NO. 27-218
Pre-Subsidence Inspection
Area 1 is located at the northern end of the reservoir and includes the inflow
ditch, three existing cabins, a Parshall flume at the inlet to the reservoir, as well
as the saddle dam and spillway area. Construction at the spillway area and along
the north side of the dam had occurred recently. Re-grading of some areas was
evident and the vegetation had not yet returned. It appeared that the grade of the
stream bed in the inflow ditch may have been steepened to allow installation or
repair of the flume. The channel sides of the creek are steep and may be subject
to erosion until they stabilize themselves by flattening and vegetating. Very steep
slopes exist along the spillway outflow some 200 feet to the north of the dam.
The slopes are around 30 feet in height and appear to be over steepened and
unstable in their current conditions.
' w.

4F
1
*,./.
Y"
Photo #1, North saddle dam looking east from west abutment
