Geotechnical Evaluation of Mine-induced Earthquakes on Bruce Park Dam
Bowie Resources, Limited
June 2002
0) Section 7 - Limitations
The analysis is based on our interpretation of sparse literature available on long wall mine-
induced seismicity. Material properties used in the analyses were based on soil samples
obtained only at the specific locations, only at the time they were obtained, and only to the
depth penetrated. Samples cannot be relied on to accurately reflect variations in strata that
may exist between sampling locations.
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Bowie Resources, Ltd. for the specific
application to the Bruce Park Dam Project. The intent of the analyses is to evaluate the likely
impacts of mine-induced seismicity on the main dam, saddle dam, and landslide. Analyses
to evaluate the stability and safety of the main dam, saddle dam, landslide, and other
appurtenants from other loading conditions and from natural, tectonically induced
earthquakes is not part of this work.
GEI has endeavored to comply with generally accepted engineering practice common to the
local area in conducting this analysis. GEI makes-no other warranty, express or implied.
i?
i
lJ
02-05-22 Geotechnical E aluation of Mine lnduced Eanhquakm
GEI Consultants, Inc. 22
