reclaimed surfaces above. The slit fence should be monitored closely and maintained as
necessary during the 2009 spring runoff to ensure that there are no negative impacts to water
quality.
Support Facilities
• The upper and middle levels at the Paonia Loadout continue to be used for material
storage. The substation was fenced and locked. A cluster of empty steel drums, initially
observed during the Dec-08 inspection, continues to be stockpiled near the far northern end
of the loadout, adjacent to the railroad tracks (Figure 6).
Topsoil
• The topsoil pile at the Paonia Loadout (southern end) is well covered with vegetation.
This concludes the January 2009 inspection report for the Bowie No. 1 Mine.
