• ~ ~ SPECIFICATIONS •
~ ~ The dam is to be of a zoned design• consisting of a rolled earth fill embankment.
'•~~The ma:cimum height will be approximately 45 feet, the length will be about 825
feet, and the crest width will be a minimum of 20 feet. This will require approxi-
mately 80,000 cubic yards of compacted ear*_h fill. •
The construction will consist of:
1. Stripping -Stripping of all construction areas of vegetation and debris.
Stockpiling vegetation and debris. Removing acid stockpiling all topsoil
_. _... -
on the construction areas.
2. Excavation - Excavation of the cutoff trench to consolidated-bedrock plus
four a_ dd_iti_onal feet of penetration. Tne excavated material wiII ~be stock-
piled. Any ecavated material that will meet the specificztioti-foi• ttie
impervious zone will later be used in that zone.
Note: All excavation where bearock is encountered will consist of removing
all debris, rock fragments, loose material, and water in such a manner as
to provide a clean surface iri preparation for backfilling.
3.
~r ' l
•~/4.
Backfillinq the cutoff trench will be done in accordance with section 5
of the specifications.
The drainage filter will be placed to the lines and elevations shown on
the plans in the following manner:
a) Material - i) D15 of the filter ~ S to 40
• D15 of the base material
Provided that the filter does not contain more than
5% of the material finer than 0.074 mm (No. 206 sieve).
i!) D15 of the filter - 5 or less
D85 of the base material
iii) The grain size of the filter should be roughly parallel
to that of the base material.
b) Moisture Control -The moisture content of the drainage filter prior to
and durirq compaction shall be distributed uniformly throughout each layer
of the material. The moisture content shall be sufficient to attain
the maximum relative density of the material in place, when compacted
by the specified compaction procedure as provided In subsection c).
~~
-11- ..~
.REVISED FEB 13 'R
