Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on January 30, 2009, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Southfield Mine was considered complete for the purposes <br />of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the <br />Rules initiate from this date of filing. Energy Fuels Coal, Inc. proposes to renew their mining and reclamation <br />permit for an additional five years on land located approximately 7 miles south of Florence, Colorado. All mining <br />operations have ceased and only maintenance and monitoring activities are occurring. No additional surface <br />disturbance is proposed as a result of this revision application. As a result, the Division does not anticipate <br />additional impacts to wildlife. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />For the Mine Area: <br />Portions of Sections 19, 30, and 31; Township 20S, Range 69N of the 6th P.M.; Sections 23, 24, 25, 26, and 36; <br />Township 20S, Range 70 W of the 6th P.M. Loadout: <br />Portions of Sections 17 and 18; Township 19S, Range 69W of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Canon City and Rock-vale. <br />A copy of this application can be viewed at the Fremont County Clerk and Recorder, 615 Macon Avenue, Room <br />B-5 (100), Canon City, CO 81212, and at the Division office.
