During 2008, a number of permitted activities occurred under Permit, Technical, and Minor <br />Revision approvals (summarized as follows), with most of the permitted activities occurring within <br />existing disturbance areas (no change in acreage unless otherwise noted): <br />RN07-05, Permit Renewal (ongoing) <br />TR06-57, 6MN Pond Modifications (on hold pending design changes) <br />TR07-61, 6MN Mine-Water Storage Reservoir (State Engineer issues, revised/approved 09/08) <br />TR07-62, 6MN Mine Water Storage Reservoir Geotechnical Investigations (approved 02/08) <br />TR07-64, WMD Phase II Development (approved 10/08) <br />TR08-65, Stoker Coal Handling Modifications (approved 08/08). <br />MR07-226, Refuse Pile Expansion Geotechnical Investigations (approved 01/08) <br />MR07-227, 6MN Temporary Shaft Heater (approved 01/08) <br />MR08-228, l ORT Dewatering Borehole 2 (approved 06/08) <br />MR08-229, 18RT Mine Atmosphere Control Boreholes (approved 08/08) <br />MR08-230, Mine Dewatering Modifications (approved 12/08) <br />MR08-231, 0-Entry Borehole (approved 11/08) <br />MR08-232, 6MN Storage Reservoir Powerline (approved 12/08) <br />MR08-233, Refuse Pile Clay Staging Area (approved 12/08) <br />Changes in permitted disturbed and affected area acreages during 2008 included an increase in the <br />permitted disturbance acreage of 22.0 acres (TR07-61, TR07-62 and MR08-228, MR08-230, MR08- <br />233), and in the permitted affected acreage of 682.52 acres (TR07-64). Actual surface disturbance <br />during 2008 matched the increase in permitted disturbance, resulting in a cumulative total for actual <br />surface disturbance of approximately 520.1 acres. Please refer to the revised maps and text associated <br />with PR06-07, and the revisions referenced above, for specific details.
