On behalf of Bear Coal Company, Inc., enclosed is an Application
for an Air Pollution Emission Permit Modification. The permit
modification request will add a coal waste pile to the permit.
Bear Coal Company may need to periodically store coal waste
material on the surface. The coal waste material is generated from
roof falls in the underground mine. The waste material is hauled
to the surface and stockpiled with a front end loader. The coal
waste is then loaded into trucks and hauled to an approved gob
disposal area located at an area mine. The coal waste pile will
only be used intermittently as coal waste is generated in the mine.
The coal waste may be stored up to 30 days before it is hauled to
an approved disposal area. Up to 1500 tons may be stored in the
coal waste pile at any time.
