Sherman
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Director

01 lleodlmmt ii
FM-d sem
We have reviewed your letter of October 31, 2008 requesting renewal of the above
referenced substitute water supply plan ("SWSP") to replace depletions that result from mining
activities. The required fee of $257.00 for the renewal of this substitute supply plan has been
submitted. This site was previously covered under the combined SWSP for Aggregate
Industries ("Al" or "Applicant") however last year the site went back to the landowner, Don
Loloff. The required fee of $257 has been received (receipt no. 3634900).
SWSP Operations

This SWSP will make replacements to the Poudre River for 2009 and accounts for
lagged depletions from past and proposed mining operations at the Loloff Pit (WDID 0303012).
The applicant plans on dry mining this site from March 2009 through October 2009. The site will
be dewatered during that period and the dewatering pumps will be turned off during the winter
months (November through February) at which time the mined area will fill with water. The
water pumped for dewatering purposes will be recharged into the alluvium near the pit to ensure
that the depletions from dewatering accrue to the stream in the same timing as the dewatering
recharge accretions. Note, that after the dewatering pumps stop the river will experience a net
depletion as the pits gradually fill. The Applicant is hereby notified that the depletions that
will have an effect on the stream as a result of refilling the pit between November through
February, must be addressed in any subsequent SWSP renewal for this pit after January 1,
2010.
Depletions at the site will result from evaporation, water lost in mined product and dust
control. The replacement sources proposed for this operation include recharge associated with
one share of New Cache, the Loloff Section 4 Ditch and water leased from the City of Greeley.
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303-866-3581 • Fax: 303-866-3589
www.water.state.co.us
