LAFARG E
AGGREGATES
& CONCRETE
Mr. Jared Ebert
December 22, 2008
2. When comparing the currently approved mining plan to the revised mining plan, you will
notice that in some instances, the mining cells do not appear to be any different between the
currently approved mining plan and the revised mining plan; however, they have different
acreages. In those cases, the difference is a result of a more accurate acreage calculation
being listed on the revised plan.
3. The reclamation plan was revised to correspond to the changes made on the mining plan; as a
result, some of the reclamation acreages changed.
4. Most of the reclamation uses stayed the same with the exception of Phase 8, Cell 1. Rather
than being called out as an Open Water Pond, it is now called out as an Augmentation
Recharge Pond.
5. All of the changes made to the plans will only result in the reshaping of the mining and
reclamation areas. The changes will not affect the methods to be used for slope construction,
topsoil replacement or revegetation of the site.
6. As you noticed and mentioned in your December 4, 2008 letter, the revised Reclamation Plan
includes designated locations for potential future trails through the property. These potential
trail locations came about as part of the Weld County Use by Special Review process which
is why they were not originally included on the DRMS Reclamation Plan. However, it is
important to note that they are simply potential trail locations. There is no commitment by
Lafarge to construct these trails as part of their reclamation plan. Lafarge understands that if
the County or some other jurisdiction should decide to construct these trails prior to
completion of the mining and reclamation of the property, another Technical Revision
application may need to be submitted to the DRMS to include the trails as part of the
Reclamation Plan.
Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions or need additional information, you
can contact me at 303-684-2307 or Pam Hora at 303-772-5282.
Sincerely,
L RGE WEST
Anne Best Jolt'
Land Manager
INC''
H:\4137 012 0hTechnical RevisionWecision date extension.doc
LAFARGE NORTH AMERICA INC.
11409 Business Park Circle, Ste 200
Longmont, CO 80504
(303) 657-4000
www.lafargenorthamerica.com
