Colowyo C-1981-019
9 December 2008
Pg 2/4
Hydrologic Balance (cont.): - The Gossard Pond (NPDES 003A) contained water
approximately three feet below the riser pipe and was not discharging at the time of
the inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be
stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems noted on the
embankment at the time of the inspection.
- The West Pit Pond (NPDES 008A) contained a small amount of water (approximately
three feet below the bottom of the gated valve on the riser pipe at the bottom of the
pond) at the time of the inspection. The presettling sump at the inlet of the pond also
contained a small amount of water but it was not discharging into the main part of
the pond. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable
at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at
the time of the inspection.
- The Rail Loop Pond (NPDES 006A) contained water approximately two feet below
the gated pipe and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at the time of the
inspection.
- The Stoker Siding Pond (NPDES 005A) was not inspected due to the snow.
- The East Taylor Pond (NPDES O1 OA) contained a small amount of water (about 1/2
way up the gated valve on the bottom of the riser pipe at and 7 feet below the top
of the pipe) at the time of the inspection and was not discharging. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at the time of the
inspection.
- The Prospect Pond (NPDES 007A) was not accessible at the time of the inspection.
Anson was on site cleaning the pond. Because of the weather they were not able to
dredge the pond but they were working on building up berms on the access road to
the pond. They have also graveled the road to keep from spreading mud onto
Colorado Highway 13 (as requested by CDOI). Anson has a long-boom excavator
with a 1/2 yard bucket on site.
- The Gulch A Pond (NPDES 004A) was not inspected due to the snow.
- The Section 16 Pond (NPDES 009) was inaccessible and not inspected (and will
probably remain inaccessible until late spring.
- The Streeter Pond (NPDES 001 A) contained water approximately two feet below the
discharge pipe and was discharging through the weep hole at the time of the
inspection. The discharge appeared to be clear. The pond embankment was well
vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional
problems noted on the embankment at the time of the inspection. The Streeter Pond
is scheduled to be cleaned this winter after the Prospect Pond is cleaned.
- The Section 28 Pond (NPDES 012A) was not inspected because of the snow cover
on the Sturgeon road.
