r
Trapper Mine, C-1981-010
Follow-up Bond Release Inspection SL-8, SL-9, and SL-10
November 12th, 2008
Weather: cool, overcast, light snow on ground
Participants:
Jason Musick (DRMS)
Graham Roberts (TMI)
Billy Nicholson(TMI)
Christine Belka(OSMRE)
The purpose of this inspection was to evaluate the repair and maintenance work noted during the
October 13th— 16th bond release inspection (BR applications SL-8, SL-9, and SL-10).
Work has been done on the gully identified to the north and east of the dragline walk"road" in
northwestern H-C-04. The gully varies in size along its length, reaching a maximum of
approximately 3 feet wide x 1 foot deep (see Figure 1 below). The area is proposed for both
Phase I &II release. This gully has been repaired under TMI's approved rill and gully
maintenance plan. Wheel rolling and filling of the deeper down-cut areas and brush repair was
conducted to mitigate erosion in the area. The area was discussed and it was agreed that more
brush will be added to the upper portions of the gully.
Maintenance has been performed on the double wing rock check dams in F-AB-05. We walked
past the upper portion of this drainage to the area adjacent to shrub clump SC-F-04. Dan
Hernandez identified this area as needing work during our initial bond release inspection. The
area has been disked and re-topsoiled (see Figure 2 below). We then returned to the double wing
rock check dam drainage and walked down to the bottom. The check dams have been repaired
and brush has been placed where the drainage channel is down-cutting to help slow runoff and
encourage deposition rather than erosion in these areas (see Figure 3 below).
Brush has been placed in the large drainage to the north of the shrub clump in Z-AB-05. This is a
Phase I (SL-8) area. Our previous inspection revealed evidence of a contour ditch overflowing
and blowing out at three locations as well as evidence of an old two-track road through shrub
clump SC-Z-01. Gullies appear to be forming due to runoff collecting in the old tracks. The
contour ditches were removed from the northern portion of the parcel and gullies have been
brush repaired to help mend erosion.
The drainage channel on the southeastern portion of H-C-03 has been brush repaired. This
channel has only a few rock check dams. Previous inspection revealed heavy down-cutting
around the rock check dams. This area should continue to be monitored. This and other areas
noted on our October 13th— 16th inspection but not listed here have since been inspected and
documented by Jason Musick during his routine inspection of the mine. ..
The power cable corridor blazed through the southwestern plot of A-13-98 has been removed
from the proposed bond release area. This area was discussed and revised maps were provided to
