A gully has formed on the west side of the shrub clump on the large plot of Z-AB-05 (Phase I).
This feature is to be repaired under TMI's rill and gully maintenance plan and will be
revisited before bond release is granted.
The small Phase I plot Z-AB-07 has a rough surface and minor rilling. It does not have great
cover and most of the vegetation present is weeds (mustard tumbleweed and.Russian thistle) with
very little grass. The area has been regraded and stabilized (required for Phase I release), but I
would recommend reseeding and monitoring the area.
We began on Wednesday in D-AB-03 (Phase I and II),which has good grass cover with a little
thistle growing in rocky topsoil. The south eastern "hook" edge of the Phase I area has a
weed patch in need of attention. This should not affect bond release for the plot.
A gully is forming down the center of the D-AB-03
kID` 4, Phase I & II plot. It is currently about 1 foot wide and
1.5—2 feet deep near the top, widening to about 2.5 x
2.5 feet near the bottom of the slope (see Figures 7
i and 8). This feature is to be repaired under TMI's °
rill and gully maintenance plan and will bei
revisited by DRMS /OSM before bond release is
r granted.
Fig.7:D-AB-03 top of gully Fig. 8:D-AB-03 lower gully
k,
We drove back up the hill to walk down the D-AB-96, D-AB-97, D-AB-98,
D-AB-99, and D-AB-00 Phase III plots. These areas have good vegetation
cover and the shrubs in shrub clumps are regenerating from their bases.
h Gullies are forming to the north of the first shrub plot. The lower diversion
n ditch this runoff should collect in has filled in with sediment and debris, and
the erosion continues down the hill to the north past the other shrub clump
i (see Figure 9). These features must be addressed by TMI before bond
release may be granted for this area. DRMS /OSM will revisit this site
y , at that time.
Fig.9:D-AB-96 gullies
We concluded Wednesday by circling back to the gully on H-C-04 to take pictures. We returned
to the mine site Thursday morning to closeout with Mr. Luke and Mr. Roberts. We discussed the
issues identified through this inspection, marked problem areas on an aerial photo, and briefly
discussed prioritizing the work to be done, and Mr. Musick's and my plans to revisit the site after
remedial action is taken (likely to be in November). We also congratulated Mr. Luke and Mr.
Roberts on a job well done. We covered a lot of ground, a few problems are to be expected, and
overall we were very pleased with what we saw.
