has been implemented and monitoring and cleanup of groundwater is ongoing. Copies of
these documents were submitted to DMG on 11-20-07.
2. You have asked that the Division be informed as to when the lakes will be filled with water. The
dates for filling of the reservoirs have not been established at this time and will depend on a
number of variables, including the economy and housing needs. The earliest that they may be
filled is at the end of this year (late 2008 or later). Carma Bayshore proposes to provide notice
to the Division prior to filling the lakes.
With respect to the need for Carma to provide a surface water monitoring plan for when the pit
is ultimately filled, we propose the following:
a. Just prior to filling the lakes, the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety will be informed
when water storage in the lakes is to start and when they are expected to be filled.
b. Within 7 days after filling to within 2 feet of the full pool, the water in the two lakes closest to
the point of the gasoline release will be sampled and tested for BTEX, MTBE, and total
petroleum hydrocarbons.
c. The lakes will be sampled and tested a second time 3 months later.
d. The results will be reported by e-mail approximately 2 weeks after sampling and a brief
report with the written lab report will be submitted to the Division within 30 days after receipt
of the lab results.
e. If any contaminants are detected, corrective action will be taken and a plan submitted to the
Division.,
f. After monitoring data demonstrates the water quality is at acceptable levels and has
achieved the approved reclamation plan of developed water resources, Carma will submit a
request to DMG to discontinue the surface water monitoring.
Please call me with any questions or comments at my office (303) 991-6000, on my cell phone at
(303) 507-7484, or e-mail me at serge cDe-21 engineering-com.
Sincerely,
E-21 ENGINEERING, INC.
ev*"_O'
Sergius N.
