As detailed in Appendix I, the heavy equipment was calculated to emit 1.04 tons of NOx, 0.53
tons of CO, and 0.04 tons of particulate annually. The construction and materials handling will
emit 0.87 tons of PM10 and 0.13 tons of PM2.5. The haul road activities will emit 1.91 tons of
PMIO and 0.29 tons of PM2.5.
7. Surface Drainage Control Structures
Because of the minimal existing soil and vegetation in the area of this proposed surface
excavation mechanical barriers will be constructed to control drainage. After these structures are
created, the only water entering the open mine area will be the result of limited precipitation. A
berm will be constructed on the south side of the overburden stockpile to prevent run-on from the
rising slope to the south. A berm will be constructed around the south and east perimeter of the
ore to direct any potential run-off from the ore pile to a sediment pond constructed in the low
lying area of the former Monogram Pit. A ditch and/or slight berm will be constructed on the
up-gradient side of the haul road for drainage control as shown on Map C-1.
Monogram Mine - November 2008
D-5
