• designated parking and equipment storage areas
• reinforced concrete ore bins with sump south of the C-Cans
• existing mine and drilling access roads and pads
• the existing Monogram Pit which will be expanded and backfilled/reclaimed with
overburden as the ore is mined
• a ditch and berm above the access road to prevent precipitation run-on from eroding the
parking and equipment storage areas
Nearly all of the proposed surface disturbances are on land which was previously disturbed and
in some cases reclaimed by preceding mining operations. On patented ground adjacent to public
BLM lands and public Montrose County roads, most of the roads and trails have been in
continuous use for recreation, 4-wheeling, hunting, camping, etc., and are currently disturbed.
Nuvemco has installed a locking gate to prevent entry to the private lands of the Monogram
Permit area for public safety and protection of property.
5. Surface Mine Equipment
The following equipment may be used for the surface mining of the Monogram Pit area.
• Dozer - Cat D5M
• Excavator - Cat 315 CL
• Loader - Cat 938 H
• Ore Buggy (4 yard - as needed)
• Flat-Bed Truck with 350 gal water tank,
• Pick-up Truck with fuel tank, 3/4 ton
• Additionally, the exploratory drilling
1 ton
operations will use the following mobile
equipment:
10 wheel, self leveling drill rig equipped for air rotary drilling
• A truck mounted compressor to supplement air for the drilling rig if needed
• A water truck equipped with hoses and road watering sprays to mitigate dust (and assist
in fire fighting if needed)
• Pick-up Truck with fuel tank, 3/4 ton
Notes:
(a) Highway ore-hauling trucks will be provided by a contractor on an as needed basis.
(b) Miscellaneous rental and contract equipment will be brought to the Monogram Mine site as
needed, including surveying, welding, drilling, material delivery trucks and concrete and gravel
trucks.
6. Air Pollution Emission
The mining activities at the Monogram Pit were reviewed and annual emissions calculated for
NOx, CO and particulate for each of the sources. The sources were identified as heavy
equipment, excavation / material transfer, and haul road activities. Through this evaluation it
was determined that no Air Pollution Emission Notice (APEN) was required as none of the
sources exceeded two tons of emissions for the criteria pollutants.
Monogram Mine - November 2008
D-4
