We received your letter of May 2, 2008 regarding your request for the Division of Wildlife to review the
vegetation plan for the reclamation of Bowie No. 2 Mine.
The seed mix no. 8 for the planting of shrub clumps seems to be an appropriate mix for the site. The location of
the shrub clumps as shown in map 18 is also acceptable. It will probably be necessary to temporarily fence the.
plantings with a six foot fence in order to keep wildlife browsing from limiting the success of the reclamation
efforts.
Due to past difficulties on reclamation sites with establishing woody plants at standard densities, we agree that the
concept of trying to establish shrub clumps may result in better success and it is worth a try.
