manner to preclude adversely affecting this species.
Both active and inactive raptor nests were found in the project area. All these nests were
found in aspen stands. Measures should be implemented to minimize impacts to aspen
stands, especially stringers, in the area that could be utilized by these birds for nesting.
Habitat disturbance in Aspen and spruce-fir stands need to be kept to a minimum to
protect snags that could be used by cavity nesting birds.
Sediment control measures should be utilized to minimize the risk of impacting streams
in the project area and ultimately major downstream drainages where listed species are
found.
Herbicide treatment of disturbed areas should occur annually to prevent the establishment
and spread of noxious weeds.
BIRD SPECIES LIST
The bird species list shows all species of birds observed in the North Fork Valley during
seven years of studies for various projects. Those species observed in the E-Seam
' Baseline Wildlife study area are identified with an "X". The table also shows where the
species were observed by habitat type.
