Design Criteria
Topic Design Criteria for the Proposed Action
46. Livestock access will be maintained during active BMP
operations. Cattleguards and access gates to the side of
each cattleguard will be installed in a timely fashion at
any place where MCC uses or builds roads as directed by
the District Range Management Specialist. Project
personnel will cooperate with the grazing permit holders
to avoid or minimize conflicts with grazing operations.
47. MCC would be required to maintain stock ponds adjacent BMP
to project roads to assure their continued effective use.
This would involve pond clean out on an as-needed basis
Roads in 48. Any approved road construction or reconstruction in BMP,
Inventoried Roadless that are excepted by RACR must be conducted RACR
Roadless in a manner that minimizes effects on surface resources,
prevents unnecessary or unreasonable surface
disturbance, and complies with all applicable lease
requirements, land and resource management plan
direction, regulation, and laws. Road Use
Permit (FSM
49. Roads constructed or reconstructed must be obliterated 2733.04b
when no longer needed for the purposes of the lease or and FSM
upon termination of expiration of the lease, whichever is 7730),
sooner. RACR
Staging Areas 50. Staging areas will be used in a manner to minimize BMP
damage to vegetation. Any surface disturbances to these
sites would be re-graded and seeded.
Maintenance 51. Roads will be maintained with water bars and appropriate Road Use
sedimentation controls. Water bar placement and design Permit(FSM
will be approved by the authorized FS Officer. 2733.04b
and FSM
7730), BMP
52. All use and maintenance of existing NFSRs will be FSM
authorized by and be consistent with a FS Road Use 2733.04b
Permit. A performance bond will be required per the and FSM
terms of the road use permit. 7730
WATER RESOURCES
Ground Water 53. Each drill or borehole, well, or other exposed BMP
underground opening sealed, or otherwise managed to
. prevent acid or other toxic drainage from entering ground
or surface waters and minimize disturbance to the
prevailing hydrologic balance.
