PUBLIC NOTICE -Request for Release of Financial Warranty
The Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine (Climax) is applying to the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board(MLRB)for a Technical Revision/Affected Land Exchange to its current
Mining and Reclamation Permit(M-77-493) for its site located at Fremont Pass, 13 miles north
ofLea.dville and 18 miles south of Frisco, Colorado. The general legal description of the area of
this notice is within Section 23, T7S,R79W, 6th Principal Meridian.
Climax proposes to add an additional 9.75 acres to the affected land at the present Climax site.
At the same time, Climax will delete 9.95 acres of undisturbed land from the present affected land
area and is requesting a release from reclamation liability from MLRB for this deleted acreage.
This acreage exchange is being done as an oversight correction to incorporate back into the
affected lands area the inadvertent deletion of the 7.75 acres of reclaimed borrow pit from
affected lands during an amendment approved in 1997 and to account for the relocation of a
pipeline onto 2.0 acres on property. This action results in a net reduction of 0.2 acres of
affected land at the site and will neither increase mining or milling activities at the site nor affect
the financial warranty for reclamation. Post-mining land use at the Climax site remains
unchanged, and consists of Rangeland, Developed Water Resources, Recreation, and
Industrial/Commercial as per the existing Reclamation Plan.
Per Rule 7.2.10 (c) of the Hard Rock/Metal Mining Rules and Regulations, comments must be
made to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215,
Denver, Colorado 80203 within thirty (30) days of publication of this notice.
