=; 999
,y
NOTICE OF FILING APPLICATION
COLORADO MINED LAND RECLAMATION PERMIT AMENDMENT
Adjacent Landowners and Easement Holders
The Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine(Climax), has applied to the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board (MLRB) for an Amendment to its current Mining and Reclamation
Permit (M-77-493) for its mining operation located in Summit, Lake, and Eagle Counties. The
attached information is being provided to notify you in the location and nature of the proposed
activities included in the Amendment. The entire Amendment application is on file with the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) and with the Summit, Lake, and Eagle
Clerk and Recorder offices.
Climax proposes to add an additional approximate 1000 acres to the affected land at the present
Climax site. This acreage is being added to allow for facility maintenance and reclamation
activities. The increase in affected land will not increase mining or milling activities at the site.
It is likely that only a fraction of this additional affected land will be disturbed. Additional
disturbed acreage will be reclaimed to a post mining land use of Rangeland, Developed Water
Resources, Recreation, and Industrial/Commercial in a manner similar to the existing
Reclamation Plan. Pursuant to section 34-32-116 (7) 0), CRS, the MLRB is required to confer
with the adjacent landowners and easement holders before approving the post-mining land use
proposed in this Amendment. Accordingly, the MLRB would appreciate your comments on the
proposed Amendment. Please note that in order to preserve your right to a hearing before the
MLRB-on this application, you must submit written comments on the application within twenty
(20)days ofthe date of last publication on the notice pursuant to Section 34-32-112(10), CRS.
If you would like to discuss the proposed post mining land use, or any other issue regarding this
permit Amendment application, please contact the Division, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215,
Denver, CO 80203 (303/866-15-67).
