Memorandum
To: Christy Woodward - Environmental Coordinator
Terry Wetz - Director Project Development
Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
From: Nick Anton, P.E. - Environmental Engineer
Mark Nelson, P. G. - Senior Hydrogeologist
Todd Bragdon, P. E. -Project Manager
CDM Inc.
Date: September 17, 2008
Subject: Draft - Groundwater Characterization Data Collection Work Plan, to
Address Designated Mining Operations (DMO) Status
Sunday Mines Group, San Miguel County, Colorado
CDM Project No. 64986.03
CDM has prepared this draft data collection work plan for Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
(Denison) in accordance with our master services agreement (MSA), Task Order No. 3. This
work plan describes data collection procedures to be used by Denison to evaluate
groundwater at the Sunday Mines Group located in San Miguel County, Colorado (site). The
Sunday Mines Group includes the following mines:
¦ Carnation Mine,
¦ St. Jude Mine,
¦ Sunday Mine,
¦ Topaz Mine, and
¦ West Sunday Mine.
The location of the Sunday Mines Group is presented in Figure 1. CDM developed this data
collection work plan to support the proposed program for environmental analysis at the
Sunday Mines Group as described in Denison 's March 31, 2008 letter (Denison 2008) to the
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS) in response to the DRMS'
Notice of Determination of Designated Mining Operations (DRMS 2008a). Procedures and
analyses presented in this data collection work plan are also consistent with DRMS' May 9,
2008 response letter (DRMS 2008b) to Denison approving (with comment) the proposed
program for environmental analysis at the Sunday Mines Group. This evaluation is a
component of the first phase of activities planned by Denison to address Designated Mining
