Problem/ Possible Violation: November <br /> It appears that ground water has been exposed in the pit excavation, and the operation 3oth, 2008 <br /> was not supposed to impact the sites ground water. This is a problem at this time for <br /> failure to prevent disturbances to the prevailing hydrologic balance of the affected land <br /> and the surrounding area, specifically the affect on ground water quantity of the ground <br /> water system. <br />TYPE PB <br />TOPIC HB <br />Corrective Action: <br />The operator has two options: <br />1.) Backfill the pit excavation to two feet above the ground water level. Then submit <br />photographic evidence to the Division that this task has been completed. <br />OR <br />2.) If the operator would like to leave the ground water exposed, then they must <br />submit a Technical Revision to the Division to change the approved mine plan to allow <br />ground water to be exposed. Also, the operator will need to obtain an approved <br />substitute water supply plan and a well permit from the Colorado Division of Water <br />Resources. <br /> Problem Possible Violation: November <br />4•) Tamarisk Trees have volunteered into the site and are spreading throughout the affected 3oth, 2008 <br /> area. This is a problem at this time for failure to employ weed control for weed species <br /> that threaten the development of the desired vegetation. This is pursuant to Rule 3. 1.10 <br /> 6 <br />Type P13 <br />Topic RV <br />Corrective Action: <br />Please remove the Tamarisk trees in the affected area.
