e) Prospecting Notices: Mr. Cattany said information regarding prospecting notices for EGL
and Chevron will now be on-line because of Senate Bill 228. Mr. Cattany said at this time
there is no new information from Shell.
f) November Board Meeting: Mr. Cattany said thje Mined Land Reclamation Board will meet
in Cripple Creek on November 13th and 14th for the hearing.
g) Uranium/Hard Rock Prospecting Notices: Mr. Cattany said the Division continues to
receive one to two uranium prospecting notices per week with the majority of them waiving
the confidentiality provisions. He said the Division receives approximately one gold or
hard rock prospecting notice each month.
h) Rule-Making: Mr. Cattany said the Department is preparing for rule-making on Bill 228,
1161, and 169, which will be a combined rule-making. He said the AG's office is
beginning to work on a draft for that rule-making.
i) Colorado Stone, Sand and Gravel Association: Mr. Cattany said there has been a
restructuring of the aggregate trade industry association. He said the previous two
associations have merged to become the Colorado Stone, Sand and Gravel Association,
which is currently headed by Pete Jacobson.
j) Mine Safety and Training: Mr. Cattany said the Division's Mine Safety and Training
Program is part of the Western Regional Mine Safety and Health Network, which will be
holding its regional meeting in Northglenn on October 28th. He said the Division's program
has been nominated for a national award.
k) Abandoned Mine Program: Mr. Cattany said the National Association of Abandoned
Mined Land Programs conference will be held November 26-28 in Durango.
1) Creed: Mr. Cattany said he and Ms. Pineda participated with the Willow Creek Watershed
group in Creed in a series of meetings last month looking at the abandoned mine land work
happening in Creed and also some of the potential Superfund activity that may be occurring
in the Creed area.
m) Jack Long: Mr. Cattany announced the passing of Jack Long, father of Mike Long.
n) Ken Mangerswell: Mr. Cattany said Ken Mangerswell, husband of Sharon Schuller, the
previous assistant to Greg Walcher, received treatment first at Swedish and currently
Craig's Hospital for a fall from a ladder.
o) Legislative: Mr. Cattany said the only Division matter before the legislature will be the
reappointments.
