State law requires that an operator must submit any required bond within 60 days of the date of
notification. Since providing bonds can take time, and since the amendment is not considered fully in
force until the bond is received, it is recommended that you begin the process promptly.
You may provide the additional bond in any of various types of bond instruments, with all forms
available on the Division's website: www.mining.state.co.us. To submit the bond forms, or for any
questions about the forms, please contact Ms. Elizabeth Taliaferro at the Division's Denver office (see
address in letterhead, above). All forms must be properly signed and notarized where indicated, and
submitted in duplicate.
This office is satisfied with the changes that have been made to the permit's mining plan and the
reclamation plan, both of which conform to the requirements of the Environmental Protection Plan.
Please note that though numerous significant changes were made to the permitted plans, this office
remains concerned about the groundwater, and anticipates that further minor permit revisions will
become needed.
I may be reached at the Division's Durango field office (please note the new address): 691 CR 233,
Room A-2, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193 or fax 970-247-5104.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: Bond recalculation packet.
Cc(w/encl): Karmen King, Gault Group, Inc., 36 W Main, Cortez, CO 81321
Dave Lazorchak, BLM, 216 N Colorado, Gunnison, CO 81230
Ec(w/o encl): Steve Shuey, DRMS Grand Junction
