Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
I/ V__/
Re: Golden Wonder Mine, 110d Permit No. M-1978-091 UG, Amendment AM-3, Approval and
Notice of Bond Increase.
Dear Mr. Abraham,
On September 25, 2008, this office received the last of the technical adequacy materials required to
consider approval of the amendment application. Amendment AM-3 is hereby approved.
The decision date for the above-named amendment application had been set for September 22, 2008,
and by the close of business there were still a few items remaining to be submitted. By the close of
business on September 25, 2008, the final adequacy materials were received. They consisted of
documentation of the timely filing of additional materials for public review, affidavit of publishing,
and the necessary professional engineer's license for the drawings. Due to the nature of the materials,
and a delay that occurred at the county's offices, this office found it reasonable to await the receipt of
the adequacy items and approve the amendment on the date stated above.
The amendment addresses the following: add 6.4 acres to the permit for a total acreage of 9.9; during
mining to construct an engineered drainage structure along the Level 6 area; during reclamation to
remove portion of the Level 6 waste rock from proximity of the gulch and re-establish the pre-mining
gulch channel; stabilize and reclaim a failed hillslope; allow use of clean rock from Level 3 dump for
fill material, and possible placement of Level 6 waste rock at Level 3 dump; and install improved
stormwater and safety structures for use on the site and roads during mining.
This letter is also your notice of a bond increase. The enclosed reclamation cost estimate includes the
details of the full reclamation of the entire permitted area disturbance, based on the current site
conditions and the details of the revised reclamation plan. The existing bond is $50,757, which
accounts for two recent, unrelated bond increases. The. current bond recalculation associated with this
amendment indicates a bond amount of $100,042, constituting an increase of $49,285. Please review
the figures in the enclosed packet promptly and contact me if you notice any errors or omissions.
TZ L()
S33
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
