EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN (6.4.4)
The following describes information specific to the proposed amended area to be
mined in the phases as shown on Exhibit C2. More general information is found
in Exhibit D of the original permit application and is referenced herein.
(a) The method of mining will be consistent with the current operation. This
primarily is with the use of a bulldozer and front-end loader with initial pit
run haulage by front-end loader, truck, earthmover or conveyor to the
existing process area. Once an area is mined sufficiently to provide an
auxiliary process site, haulage may be eliminated.
(b) Topsoil and overburden, to the extent they are present, will be removed
with either a front-end loader or earthmover and placed as shown on
Exhibit C2.
(c) Diversion or impoundment of water is anticipated to some extent in
Phases 2, 4 and 7. Dewatering channels will be excavated along the
perimeter of the areas to be mined such that subsurface water can be
pumped out of the work area.
(d) It is anticipated that 10 acres or less will be worked at any given time.
(e) It is expected that a 10 acre phase will be mined out in 2 to 3 years; the
amended mining limits contain approximately 15.6 acres. Thus mining will
take place over 3 to 5 years depending on market demand.
(f) The nature, depth and thickness of the deposit are anticipated to be the
same as described in the original permit application (Exhibit D). The
sedimentary bedrock beneath the deposit is shale/ mudstone.
(g) (See Exhibit D orig.)
(h) (See Exhibit D orig.)
(i) No explosives will be used in conjunction with mining.
