The following is a list of August
rainfall events at Lorencito Canyon Mine:
August 7 0.2"
August 8 2.4"
August 9 0.3"
August 16 3.1"
August 19 0.2"
August 20 0.9"
Numerous light showers of less than 0.1" occurred on other days throughout the month.
Workers were on-site at Lorencito on the Saturday Morning of August 16. The rain
gauge had been checked Friday afternoon and they reported that road conditions were dry
on reporting to work. Heavy rains occurred from about 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Rain
gauge showed 2.4" when they left the site in the early afternoon as conditions were too
wet to continue working. Additional showers appeared to be eminent as they were
leaving. The rain gauge showed 3.1" on Monday morning. Interviews with Primero
residents indicated that additional showers had occurred on Saturday afternoon-evening.
However, Sunday showers had avoided the Primero area, passing further to the North.
