TRAPPER MININD INC.
September 23, 2008
Mr. Jason Musick
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman, St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report
Dear Jason:
RECEIVED
SEP 2 9 2008
Division of Recla?nation,
Mining and Safety
The following information is submitted in response to comments from your July 29, 2008
letter related to Trapper's Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report (GMR).
DRMS Comment 1) - Table 3.3-3 includes proposed lengths (in feet) for the three
inclinometers and four piezometers installed. These lengths differ from those reported
in the GMR (some are longer; some are shorter). Please provide an explanation of the
variations in length of instrumentation between Table 3.3-3 and the GMR. Table 3.3-3
was derived based on estimates of depths to penetrate or monitor certain zones of
strata. The depths were not the critical parameter, rather the zones of interest were. A
description is provided below:
Site G12-CCR - This inclinometer site was projected to penetrate the Q floor. Q seam
exists for the interval 145.8-157.6. The actual depth of 170 feet extends approximately
12 feet below the Q floor. Sites GX6-CCR and Z11-CCR vary from the estimated
lengths for the same reason. These holes were drilled at varying lengths through the Q
seam floor as intended
Site G13-CCR - This piezometer site was designed to monitor three zones, namely the
zone above the ML seam (106 feet), the zone above the MM seam (126 feet) and the Q
seam (163 feet). The total length of the three piezometer cables is 395 feet which
matches fairly closely with the 390 feet in Table 3.3-3. Lengths for sites GX5-CCR (346
total feet) and Z12-CCR (396 total feet) varied for the same reason
Site G110-CCR - This piezometer site was originally designed to monitor only one zone
but the decision was made by Agapito to monitor the same three zones as in site GI3.
The fact that there were 3 monitoring zones added additional piezometer length.
Monitoring installation was supervised by Agapito Associates and was placed in the
desired zones.
P.O.
