will take an additional 10 years due to the proposed western expansion. Connell anticipates that
they will continue to mine approximately 1 to 2 acres per year or approximately 71,000 cubic
yards of material per year. This schedule anticipates completion of mining and reclamation in 10
years for a total of approximately 425,000 cubic yards of material. However, it is possible that
due to market fluctuations, mining will progress slower or faster than anticipated and additional
or less time could be required for mining and reclamation of the site.
A total of approximately 33 acres will eventually be mined on the site. The remaining
undisturbed area of the existing permit will be mined in Phase 2 over the anticipated span of 1 to
2 years. During Phase 3, mining of the proposed western expansion area will begin near the
southwest corner of the expansion area and will progress in an easterly direction as shown in
Exhibit C (Mining Plan Map). The western expansion area will be mined over the anticipated
span of 8 to 9 years. A permanent asphalt batch plant is located on the east side of the site, and
an existing access road will be used to allow traffic to and from the plant, as shown in Exhibit C.
The truck traffic patterns and volumes will remain unchanged. The current alignment of the
access road may change as mining progresses.
Mining Methods
The deposit will be dry mined, and the area will be reclaimed as cropland and grazing lands.
The equipment and facilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Processing Equipment
Screen, crusher, log washer, sand screw, conveyors, and other miscellaneous processing
equipment.
Earth Moving Equipment
Dozers, loaders, scrapers, excavators, and compactors will be used for mining and earth
1 moving operations.
Asphalt Batch Plant
Loader, skidsteer, control house, (2) silos, coldfeeds, lime system, bag house, mixing
chamber with burner, (3) hot oil tanks and a fuel tank.
Miscellaneous
An employee/storage trailer, scale house, and scale, will be located on-site. Generators and
watering trucks will be used as needed.
As mining progresses, topsoil and overburden will be stripped with excavators and haul trucks to
expose the aggregate product below. All topsoil and overburden material will be used on-site for
reclamation so long-term stockpiling of these materials is not anticipated. If stockpiles do
remain for over 180 days they will be seeded per the seed mixture and rate described in the
reclamation.
Mining of the aggregate will progress down to the underlying bedrock. During mining and prior
to reclamation, the mining face will be a nearly vertical at an approximate 1/2H:1 V slope. The
Camilletti Pit
DRMS 112 Permit Amendment
Page 6
