EXHIBIT E
The planned reclamation of this pit is to return the area to rangeland and possible the
lowest lying area to collect run off water for wildlife.
Reclamation will be an ongoing process as to keep the disturbed area under 10 acres.
All slopes will be graded and shaped to a 3:1 slope or less. Stockpiled overburden will
help in this process. Stockpiled topsoil will then be uniformly applied to the shape and
graded gravel pit area and at this time any amendments (i.e. fertilizer or manure)
suggested will be added.. The topsoil will be disked and if needed chiseled to provide a
good weed-free seed bed. Anticipated topsoil depth is 3"-6". Additional topsoil will be
obtained if needed. If on-site assistance is needed we will contact our local soil
conservation district for best recommendations for soil and site conditions at the time of
reclamation.
The cover crop (i.e. rye, hybrid sorghum, etc...) seeding will be done across the slope at
6-10 pounds per acre from June 1 to July 15. The sorghum stubble will be left on the site
for soil protection and to collect snow for moisture.
The grass seeding operations are to be done between November 1 and May 1 into the
cover crop residue. The grass will be seeded with a grass drill with a double disc opener
and depth band control to place seeds at optimum depth, seeding across the slope on
contour if at all possible.
The following seed mixture was recommended:
Species % Mix Lbs per live per acre
Switchgrass 20 .80
Prairie Sandreed 20 1.4
Sand Bluestem 20 3.2
Yellow Indiangrass 20 2.0
Western Wheatgrass 10 1.8
Little Bluestem 10 .70
All livestock will be excluded from the reclaimed area until the grass is fully established.
The minimum established/deferment time will be three (3) full growing seasons after
seeding.
