EXHIBIT D
Our plan is to reopen this pit which was once mined by Yuma County. The pit was
reclaimed in the early 90's. The reclamation process was done inadequately and the
previous owners have also done some mining for their personal use. Therefore the area is
not sloped to regulations. Our plan is to bring this area back into compliance as we mine
the area.
The gravel will be mined with an excavator trying to maintain a 3:1 slope at all times.
Topsoil and overburden will be removed and stockpiled separately at a location to the
west of the pit. It will be easily accessible when reclamation is proceeded with. Topsoil
varies in depth from 1" to 8" inches, the shallowest being in the reclamation area from
previous mining. Topsoil will be maintained with the planting of a cover crop to control
erosion issues. The occasional application of an herbicide will help control the growth of
any broadleaf noxious weeds. The overburden also varies in the area because of the
previous mining activity. The depth of the overburden ranges from 1' to 12'. The depth
of the gravel, 12' to 25', is an approximate as we have not done any core drilling and the
history is not available from the previous excavation of the pit. The nature of the stratum
immediately beneath the material to be mined is mostly made up of clay deposits. This
information was taken from Yuma County's prior application. Measures will be taken to
stay above the water table, as to not make an impact on the ground water, which has
been determined to be at approximately 98'. This information was obtained from Twiss
and Wilson Drilling in Wray, CO.
The total permitted area will be 80.9 acres with the estimation of approximately no more
the 15 acres being disturbed during the whole process. The size of the area to be worked
at one time is 10 acres or less. The gravel will be mined as needed. Stockpiling is not in
our plan. There will be no processing at the site. The area will be mined intermittently as
the need arises for material.
No explosives of any kind will be used in the mining process.
Our plan is to stay at least 200' away from manmade structures (i.e. Yuma County
roadways, Y-W Electric overhead and our perimeter fence ). We will be setting posts at
intervals and flagging to determine the boundary area for excavation.
There are no water diversions or impoundments.
The proposed date of reclamation is December 2018.
