The following species diversity success stan-
dard was approved for the existing permit:
1. There are at least five native perennial
herbaceous species (four native, cool season
grasses and one native forb) which have a rel-
ative cover or production equal to or greater
than 3% each.
2. There are at least two native shrub spe-
cies, of which neither exceeds a relative den-
sity of 80%.
3. The five herbaceous species combined will
not exceed 90% in relative cover or produc-
tion, and any one of the five species will not
exceed 60% in relative importance.
Harney 5 Associates, inc. completed a Vegeta-
• lion ;nven[ory of the area of the Orchard Val-
ley West Ptine during July, 1956.
Based on the resulted of this study and recom-
mendations of Harney fi Associates, ;nc. and
the Division, a success standard for revegeta-
tion of the Orchard Valley West Hine site of
60% ground cover and 450 pounds per acre pro-
duction was approved. The remaining provi-
sions of the Orchard Valley Mine success stan-
dards would be applicable Co [he Orchard Val-
lev 'lest Mine site. A.e:fer to the Harney S As-

dix, Volume 9A, for additional information.
(vii) Soil Testing
Before removal of topsoil, sampling will Cake
place to determine the quantity to be removed
and saved. To make this determination, test
pits will be dug and samples taken from each
horizon. These samples will be lab analyzed.
The depth of each horizon, as well as results
of the analysis, will be recorded for
