Prior to topsoil removal, a deta*m;*+stion of the suitability <br />of topsoil as seedbed material will be performed as described in Section <br />Z.05.4(2)(e)(vii). After suitable topsoil depth and appropriate return <br />depth detorm;nations have been made, salvaged topsoil volumes will be <br />calculated so an adequate storage area can be developed. <br />Zbpsoil will be evaluated arri sampled by horizons. A qualified inspector <br />will determine horizon depths arcs saa~le the following parameters: pH, <br />net acidity or alkalinity, phosphorus, potassium, texture class, <br />electrical conductivity, sodium absorption ratio, sodium, calcium, <br />magnesium, boron if pH > 8.5, selenium if pH > 8.5, ~ organic matter, and <br />particle size analysis using scrreerec ing & hydrYaneter. 'Ihe soil suitability <br />will be evaluated aryl the proper depth determirsed. <br />Re<roval <br />Topsoil removal will be aooca~g~lished in two steps: (1) clearance of <br />surface vegetation; and (2) removal of suitable topsoil. I~r+ge trees and <br />shrub which wand interfere with topsoil removal wi.11 be cleared by <br />cutting or bulldozing. Suitable topsoil will then be removed with <br />scrapers, front erd loaders or dozers.
