C/nZ-08'0
Rv -3
Kaldenbach, Tom
From: Kaldenbach, Tom
Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 10:25 AM
To: 'savageandsavage@earthlink.net'
Subject: FW: Carbon Junction Renewal Reclamation Bond Recalculation
Attachments: Itr080708.PDF; tasksheets.PDF

Itr080708.PDF (56 tasksheets.PDF
KB) (361 KB)
Mike,
Dan is out on annual leave until Sept. 2, so a conference call does not work until Sept 3
through the 5 (although he is in the field those three days).
Do you want to try to do a conference call on Sept. 3-5 when Dan is in the field?
Tom
-----Original Message-----
From: Kaldenbach, Tom
Sent: Friday, August 22, 2008 5:12 PM
To: 'savageandsavage@earthlink.net'
Cc: Hernandez, Daniel
Subject: FW: Carbon Junction Renewal Reclamation Bond Recalculation
Mike,
Dan and my schedules have changed so that the next time Dan and I will both be in the
office will be September 9.
Regarding your original email:
1. Topsoil stockpiles 4 and 7 - As explained in DRMS letter of August 7,. 2008 in the
RN-03 file (see attached copy), a TR and a request for bond adjustment can be submitted to
eliminate tasks associated with these stockpiles. The TR should include:
a) revised permit text explaining why redistribution of the stockpiles is unwarranted, and
b) pages should be updated to reflect the change in the reclamation plan.
2. "Reclamation bond" versus reclamation liability" - As explained in the previously
mentioned letter, bond liability is more than reclamation liability because bond liability
is comprised of the following two categories:
a) Tasks having reclamation liability and bond liability - Reclamation tasks not yet
completed and those tasks that are completed but have not yet undergone bond release,
b) Tasks having bond liability, but no reclamation liability - Reclamation tasks that
have been completed and bond released, but where bond dollar values are subject to the
60%/85% phased bond release limits of Rule 3.03(2).
3. Topsoil composition in Tasks 31a and 37a - I have changed the material weight
in Tasks 31a and 37a from "Decomposed rock - 50% Rock, 50% Earth" to topsoil (see attached
task sheets). I have also changed the Job Superintendent rate on the cost summary sheet
from $32.25, to $41.25 (the rate in effect since May 2007). Making these changes results
in a new total estimate of $409,420, or $3,586 more than the uncorrected amount of
$405,834. Based on the relatively small size of the $3,586 correction (less than 1% of
the total estimate), it would be reasonable to correct the estimate in a forthcoming
revision.
1
