Coordinates for these nest sites are:
Dry Fork Location
385157N
107 25 26 W
Two Ponds location
38 53 03 N
107 25 41 W
In addition to these two nest sites, several purple martins were observed flying in and out of the
stand where the nest is located along the Dry Fork. Also, purple martins were observed at other
locations in the Dry Fork drainage on more than one occasion. There is considerable suitable
nesting habitat in aspen stands throughout the project area. Roads and pad can be located to
minimize the number of trees removed that could potentially be used for nesting. Foraging
habitat is not limited in the project area and development will not be adversely affected by
development.
Three-toed woodpecker: No three-toed woodpeckers were observed during the 2008 surveys.
No suitable habitat for this species will be disturbed by the proposed construction activities for
the E-Seam Panels I & 2.
Brewer's Sparrow: There is no suitable habitat for this species in the E-Seam Panels 1 & 2 area.
Boreal toad: The boreal toad was discussed earlier in this document.
Northern leopard frog: No northern leopard frogs were observed during the 2008 surveys.
Dennis Garrison observed a number of these frogs at the large pond adjacent an access road from
Dry Fork to Sylvester Gulch during bat trapping work in 2007. This pond is adjacent to the E-
Seam 1 panel. Two large tadpoles were observed in this pond during the 2008 surveys, but it is
unknown if they were leopard frogs. Other ponds in the area were checked for adults, tadpoles
and egg masses, but none were observed.
There is suitable northern leopard frog habitat along drainages and in a few ponds but, with the
implementation of measures to protect the water bodies from siltation or contamination from
spills, none of this habitat will be affected by activities associated with the proposed project.
Sensitive Species - Fish
Colorado River cutthroat trout and Bluehead sucker: There is no suitable aquatic habitat for
either of the species in the project area. No fish are known to occur in the Dry Fork Of
Minnesota Creek.
Sensitive Species - Insects
Nokomis fritillary butterfly: None were observed and suitable habitat for this species is
lacking in the project area.
7
