Western Water & Land and
Western Engineers has completed modeling of the Colorado River and submitted a
conceptual design for the inlet and outlet structures dated July 24, 2008 to all concerned
parties. We are waiting for the Corps to set a meeting with the parties to discuss the pipe
inlet recommendation. I do not believe that we will be able to get all the parties together
and agree on a design for the inlet before we need to mine these areas this fall.
The remaining portion of the dike will be constructed using overburden from these areas.
We will be surveying the dike built this spring to determine if it was constructed to the
proper elevation of 2 feet above the 100-year event.
The present bond for this Permit includes over $66,000.00 for the construction of the inlet
and outlet structures. Considering that most of this amount is for the purchase and
transport of riprap to the site, the Division should be well protected sense the material is
available on site.
We need to be able to go into these areas by the middle of September to meet the
crushing time of November 1 allowed by our Conditional Use Permit with the County.
Sincerely,
Edward J ettle
