MANAGEMENT
August 11, 2008
J. J. Dudash
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine
TR-53 D-Seam Dewatering Well
Permit C-96-083
ReG`a„ ,,?on,
pug 132°°?
of d SatetY
VOWS
Dear Mr. Dudash:
The DMRS' letter dated March 20, 2008 transmitted its adequacy review for the referenced
technical revision. On behalf of Bowie Resources LLC, following are its responses to the DRMS'
comments and concerns.
BRL has decided it will not discharge water from the dewatering well into Hubbard Creek. The
water from the dewatering well will be piped to the active B-Seam workings through the nearby
ventilation shaft. Because of this decision, BRL requests approval to drill and equip the
dewatering well. Water discharge issues, quality and quantity, will be handled by technical
revision number 54.
TR-53 originally contemplated two wells, a monitoring well and a production well. Since a
monitoring well was constructed on Hubbard Creek road (MR-86) only a production dewatering
well will be drilled.
1. DRMS - Please provide the appropriate documentation that demonstrates that the USDA-
Forest Service approves of this project.
BRL - USDA-FS approval of this project is pending.
2. DRMS - The Division understands that BRL is working with the USDA-Forest Service to
determine if cultural resource site 5DT1326 might be impacted by the activities proposed in
TR-53. Please inform the Division in writing as to the results of this determination.
BRL - The road alignment was moved to avoid the cultural resource site. The revised road
alignment is shown on Map 9. The USDA-FS concurrence letter should confirm this fact.
3. DRMS - In the January 10, 2008 cover letter, it is stated that BRL intends to mo\e the
CDPS discharge point from the ventilation shaft site to the dewatering well discharge point.
Please submit a copy of the amended NPDES permit when it has been obtained.
