FROM : FAX NO. : 17198464975 Aug. 05 2008 02:36PM P3
well CCAW-1 was completed in May of 1984 as an alluvial monitoring well set
up to evaluate the Golden Eagle refu.?se disposal area. It was completed with 2"
diameter PVC pipe perforated through the water bearing zone, reportedly from
about 24' to TD at 36 feet. (Information regarding the well can be found in
Exhibit 17 of the above referenced permit.) The well was destroyed during
excavation for a CBM pipeline. The well would have been broken off at least
six feet below the surface and the overlying fill compacted to form a bed for the
pipeline. As the well was completed within a single alluvial aquifer, no inter-
communication and contamination of other aquifers will occur.
ACAW-1 is believed to have been an alluvial monitoring well completed as part
of the assessment of Apache Canyon as an alluvial valley floor. No surface
expression of the well has been located. It is thought that the well was
abandoned following the closure of the Golden Eagle Mine. As with CCAW-1,
the well was completed within a single alluvial aquifer and no inter-
communication and contamination of other aquifers is possible nor anticipated.
please contact me if you have any questions.
Sin rely,
Ronald Thompson
Agent
