URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-1 Page 2 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
patterns, roads, and topography. All drilling disturbance will be located within the 4.5 acre
drill site.
Topsoil stockpiles will be constructed along the side of each drill fence for use in
reclamation.
Section 111.7. H.
Equipment for Drilling:
• Three pick-ups: one for Yellowcake logger, one for geophysical logger, one for
driller.
• Drill rig.
• Plastic water tank will be mounted on one truck (used for mixing bentonite or neat
cement for hole plugging and abandonment, and for fire safety). Water will be
purchased locally.
• Fuel will be carried in approved containers on second pickup.
• One truck-mounted drilling rig, 1,000 to 1,500-ft. depth capability, air-rotary and
hammer-type drills on board.
• One wheeled backhoe with blade and bucket.
• One ATV with trailer for reclamation seeding work.
• One low-boy trailer to haul the backhoe and ATV close to the site. The trailer will be
parked on the R-12 road at the edge of the drill area to minimize site impacts.
Section 111.7.1.
Soil will be stripped to a 6 in. depth from a 20 ft. diameter area around each drill hole. Total
volume of topsoil stored per drill hole will be approximately 7.4 CY. Soil will be stored in one
stockpile for each drill fence, next to the drill holes.
Large, woody vegetation, such as bulky trees or shrubs over 3 ft. tall, will be cut down prior
to topsoil stripping if necessary to allow access. Wood material will be stored near the
center of the drill area until drilling is completed. It will be hauled to the Montrose County
West End Landfill located two miles west and one mile north of Nucla upon completion of
drilling activities. See also 111.5.
Section 111.7. J.
The drill pad area is located on a flat shelf approximately 625 ft. S. of the rim of Beehive
Canyon, an ephemeral wash. Strata dips to the W. The nearest live water is a spring
located 400 ft. below the drill surface and 200 ft. below total depth (TD) of holes. It is about
1 mi. east of the drill area. The Dolores River is approximately 1,000 vertical ft. below the
