URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-1 Page 1 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
Appendix A
Section 1.7. D.
The center of the 4.5 ac. drill site was GPS'd by a surveyor. The drill site includes all land
within a 250 ft. radius of the center point. All final drill hole locations will be located and
recorded using a GPS with sub-meter accuracy prior to drilling to insure they are within the
4.5 ac. area. This area has been cleared for Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive (TES)
species, and archaeological resources.
Section ///. 5.
Yellowcake will use Montrose County road R-12 to access the 500 ft. diameter, 4.5 ac. drill
site. If any road work is necessary on the county road to allow the drill rig to safely travel to
the drill site, a front-end loader will be used to repair only the damaged area. No wholesale
road grading will be done, and any spot-grading will be done within the existing county road
ROW. No new roads will be required as the drill site abuts the R-12 county road.
Once at the 4.5-acre drill site, the truck-mounted, self-contained, small-footprint, air-
rotary/hammer drill rig will travel on an designated overland route to the drill hole locations.
If any grading is required to get equipment to the drill hole locations, excavated material will
be stockpiled on site using a front-end-loader and saved for use in reclamation.
At each drill hole location, approximately 6 inches of soil will be salvaged from a 20 ft.
diameter area. Total volume of topsoil salvaged from each hole will be approximately 7.4
cubic yards (CY). Soil will be stockpiled on native land to the side of each drill fence in
marked stockpiles.
The rotary/hammer drill rig will be used to drill 20 exploratory holes - one hole per drill
location. No mud pits or water trucks will be needed for drilling. Cuttings will be collected on
the stripped area next to the drill rig.
When drilling is complete, cuttings will be replaced down-hole, with excess cuttings
(estimated at 10% of total cuttings volume) spread thinly across the immediate surface
area. This soil will be re-spread to reclaim the drill site as explained in Section IV below.
Efforts will be made to avoid locating drill fences where shrubs or trees need to be cut
down. However, vegetation that cannot be avoided and is over three ft. tall will be cut down
prior to topsoil stripping. The woody material will be stored near the center of drilling activity
and hauled to the Montrose County West End Landfill, located two miles west and one mile
north of Nucla when the site is reclaimed.
No underground workings will be created or disturbed.
Section lll. 7. D.
Twenty drill holes will be situated in 3- to 7-hole fence patterns of close-order (15-25 ft.
separation). The sub-parallel fences may be as close as 50 ft. apart, depending on old drill
