<br />5 Field Data and Reporting <br />The following information should be entered into the field logbook. <br />• location <br />• weather conditions <br />• date and time the sample was taken <br />• preservatives used <br />• types of sample bottles and sample identification number <br />• sampling sequencing if more than one sample is taken <br />• any problems encountered should be highlighted <br />• description of sampling equipment used including trade names, model <br />numbers, etc. <br />• field measurements if taken <br />• depth below water surface that sample taken <br />• field observations of the condition of the pier, ice on the lake, appearance and <br />color of water, and other notable observations <br />• photographs taken <br />• a chronological list of the activities and time they were performed <br />• names and affiliations of personnel or persons observing or assisting <br />6 Chain of Custody <br />Chain of custody forms should be filled out completely. All information should be <br />entered on the custody form including, date time of sampling, sample identification, <br />sample preservatives used, analysis requested, and client and sampling information. <br />7 Sample Delivery <br />Samples should be delivered to the analytical laboratory as soon as possible after the <br />sampling event. In most cases the samples should be transported directly from the <br />sampling location to the laboratory. <br />-4-
